Waist beads are an ancient African accessory worn by women. The adornment of waist beads has been passed down traditionally over time through our ancestors of women. They can represent femininity, sensuality, and many other reasons. Women use waist beads for many many different reasons.

These waist beads feature the word Queen into the design.

  • Waist Beads are for women of all ages and sizes.
  • Waist Beads can be used for weight management. Mindfully, they can be used to manage food intake. Over time, they can be used to track weight gain or weight loss.
  • Waist Beads can be used as a right of passage for young girls transitioning into womanhood. It can serve as a reminder to young women to respect their bodies and remind themselves of the women they are growing into.
  • Waist beads can be used as a tool to feel sexy. Some women wear waist beads for their spouses' or husbands' desires.
  • Waist beads can be used for manifestation and/or affirm feelings and emotion. Some waist beads can include crystal stones that give off specific healing properties.

Traditionally, they are to be worn around the waistline, but can also be worn on around the belly button area.

These waist beads are considered permanent waist beads as they are tied onto 5 strands of string. Once you tie them on, they are required to be cut off. They measure up to 51" long.

How to wear:

  1. Measure the waist beads around your waist to measure where you want the beads to fall. Be mindful to leave room for movement or growth.
  2. Move the excess beads over to make room on the string to tie the strands making sure there will be no spaces in between the beads.
  3. Tie the strands together tightly creating a tight knot 3-4 times. (Using your finger to create a small loop and then tie. Having someone hold the first knot, while tying the second knot helps!)
  4. Cut off the extra string and beads with scissors.
  5. Use the excess beads for a matching anklet!

All Waist Beads are handmade in Africa.
